Book Nook Pick 11/2012: Green Rider by Kristen Britain

Each month I will pick a book whether for good or ill and write a brief response to it. It will help the blog going and become more interesting. Why do this? To become an author one must read a lot, especially books. I will go through many genres and pick any book that I have read and wish to write a brief response. This will also inspire you to read and also see what has inspired me. Most of my books will be fantasy, but some will be from other genres for an author should be open to all sorts of literary works.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain

The story in short is about a girl named Karigan who is sent off to the king with a life or death message in hand. This she receives from a fallen Green Rider, a messenger of the king, who stumbles into her path. She has no idea where she is truly going and the only one who has any clear idea of direction is the horse. All the while being pursued by the very people who killed the rider before her.

This book is really a page-turner for it starts off with a scenario and the rest is left for you to find out what will happen next. It is a great story for a light reading, but a light-filled action every now and then just to keep you going. I enjoyed the various characters in the book from the uncanny and useful Berry sisters to fair and kind King Zachary. You never know what will happen next or who you will meet. The only thing I found a little unconvincing was the setting, but apart from that it is a great read. I am enjoying it even now in my second reading of it and the rest of the series just gets better and better.

Official Treenook Background

This will be my official background for this blog. It will change in accordance to the upcoming novel that will be released. Months or a year before the release of the book the background will give hints of upcoming books. It will be nothing more than theme and cover elements.

For example if I did a book revolving around swords. I would first put the color of gray. Then it will change to swords as my background and then the artwork image that will be the cover of the book, which will have swords as part of the cover. It will be fun for you all and it will keep you all occupied as the book is going through the publishing process.

This cover is the base cover for the blog. I did not design it, but whoever did I thank you for this beautiful peace of art and I give you full credit. If anyone can find the artist then mention him or her in the posts for a more proper crediting.
